Hattie Polson is a master’s student in agricultural, food, and resource economics at Michigan State University. She earned a B.S. in Agricultural Economics with a secondary major in Global Food Systems Leadership from Kansas State University. Her research interests center on producer decision-making, agricultural and food policy, and capacity building and resilience in food systems.
Hattie has industry experience as a Commodity Trading Intern with Cargill and as an Agricultural Economic Research Graduate Intern with Land O’Lakes’ Economic Research team. In 2023, she was selected as a Truman Scholar for her commitment to food and agriculture policy. Additionally, Hattie was one of the founding members of Food Security Scholars at Kansas State University, helping to shape its mission and launch interdisciplinary student engagement in local and global food systems.
