Shirel Ponnudurai began her master’s degree at Michigan State University in August 2024, after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Consumer Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. During her undergraduate studies, she gained valuable experience working with crop data and interned at an agricultural consulting firm, where she researched and presented findings on soybean market dynamics.

During her graduate career, Shirel has continued to work on soybean markets in Michigan and is focused on fine-tuning her skills in data presentation and research. In the future, she hopes to pursue opportunities related to consumer research and working closely with food manufacturers.
